Moving to Allendale or looking for activities available in the area for you and your family? Look no further. Allendale offers plenty of seasonal options to keep you right in town and also have a weekend full of fun.


First, enjoy a day to relax outdoors at Grand Ravines North County Park. Here you’ll find whatever you’re looking for in your day out with the family and even bring the dogs! From hiking to fishing, all with a beautiful view of the grand river. This is also the perfect sweet spot to bring your furry friends with the local dog park nearby.


Now, if the weather isn’t cooperating, don’t fret because there are rainy day activities as well. Located right in Allendale is the historic fire station museum that served the area for over 100 years. It has been converted into a museum to preserve the lengthy history, while also giving residents something to enjoy. They are open to the public Saturdays from 11-3, or by appointment. Discover all of the unique features Engine House No. 5 Museum has to offer. Such as uniforms, helmets and engines that all date back to the 1800’s. Entry to the museum is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.


Support local businesses and swing by the farmer’s market located right on Grand Valley State University’s campus. From June to October, the campus opens up to the vendors on Wednesday’s from 10 to 1:30 p.m. Find everything you could be looking for from local vendors like Post Farms fresh produce, tasty Daddy’s Dough cookies, fresh berries from Lindberg’s Blueberries and much more. Or, if you’re just looking for a healthy lunch, a fresh dish is served every week from a local vendor.


Looking to pick up a hobby?The golf course at The Meadows offers a beautiful course with online tee time bookings for your convenience. Become a member and enjoy all the perks of the course or just swing by for 9 holes all around $23 a person. Lastly, as the weather starts to cool down, look to Post Family Farm for all of your fall family fun. Pick your own pumpkins, enjoy a relaxing hayride or get twisted up in their corn mazes.
